I’ve gone all dark and scary. I’ve had a bit of the Wierd and mysterious about me my whole life. I know what I am now and I’ve made peace with it. I thought it was high time to embrace what I’ve become and celebrate the spooky, praise the paranormal and eat the innocent.
I wanted something that sticks out from the crowd and went about designing this .. this .. , thing. I’m as happy as I can be and the transition from photoshop into the browser went pretty smoothly actually!
My every day work involves building Fully Standards complaint sites that hold up in all modern browsers such as IE 6 – 8, Firefox 2 – 3 and Safari 2 – 4. My everyday frustrations and a lack of patience with the out-dated browser IE6, and simply a lack of time have led me to decide not to fully support IE6 with this personal site. This allows me to explore the limits of what modern Web Browsers are capable of these days, with an interesting use of transparency, font-replacement techniques and many other emerging css technologies. I predict that 2010 will bring about the demise of the hugely out-dated IE6 although all the information on this Web site can still be accessed using it.
I’ve reached a point now that I am happy to release my creation on the general public so here it is. I’ve tried to keep a spooky theme througout the site but I am intending to keep things fresh with extra surprises as time goes on so keep checking back for those.
In the mean time, I hope you enjoy your stay but remember .. Breakfast is at 7, doors are locked by 9 and no one will hear you at night, not here …. in the dark, well maybe one someone will ..
Good work with the new site Matt, not conventional but looks great. I do hope you are right about IE6, I have been reviewing the stats for my websites and IE6 is only used by a very, very small percentage of my visitors and the business case of time spent catering for these users vs. the return doesn’t stackup so I have also decided to not worry about making my content perfect for them although they can still use things, just doesn’t look great!
Downloading a newer browser is free so I don’t really see why they can’t do that.
